SUSPECTED raiders ramm-ed a police car injuring a policeman after a break-in at a golf club.

Police were called to Lyneham Golf Course, near Milton-under-Wychwood, after reports of a break-in at 2am on Sunday.

They followed a car to Charlbury where the driver went up a private lane and crashed into the fence.

Pc Simon Towers said: "It seemed the driver didn't know the way. After crashing into the fence, the car came backwards and struck one of our police vehicles."

Pc Rob Barker, from Kidlington police station, was treated on the scene by ambulance staff for bruising sustained in the collision.

Pc Towers said: "The three occupants made off, leaving behind money presumed stolen from gaming machines at the golf club.

"Soon afterwards a Ford Escort was stolen from Charlbury which we believe they took."
