MARSTON Village have been handed a whopping fine after being found guilty of playing a player while under suspension.

The Morrells Sunday League side had earlier denied the offence in a written statement, but after two meetings, at which several witnesses confirmed OFA findings, Marston were fined a total of £240.

"It's a lesson to other clubs as to what will happen if they attempt to send out players who are serving a supension," said OFA disciplinary secretary David Hovard.

Marston eventually accepted the charge and have paid the £150 fine and costs of £90.

The demise of Northern Lights has led to a 'sine die' ban for two players, Andrew Nisbett and Ben Rafferty.

The Banbury-based club folded still owing money to the county, but the pair will be free to play again once their outstanding financial liabilities have been resolved.
