Cherwell District Council CLLR Sandra Mold could be joined by her husband Royston on Cherwell District Council after the elections on May 7.
Sandra is a Labour member for Banbury Calthorpe and Royston is standing for another seat in the same ward. The sitting councillor Lynne Parsons is giving up.
"We could be a husband and wife team but I am hoping to be there for the people," said Royston, a carpenter/plumber.
But the council will lose another married couple. Labour husband and wife Bob and Sandra Laynes will not be going to meetings together for their neighbouring Kidlington seats any more.
Sandra is standing down after eight years but Bob is seeking re-election after 12 years on Cherwell.
"It is a bit much having two in the family on the council and I decided to take a break," said Sandra.
Veteran councillor Betty Roberts is resigning from the Otmoor ward for the Liberal Democrats because of her age.
"I am 75 and have been Otmoor district councillor for 16 years. It is very time consuming and I do not like the long drive to Banbury. My husband Michael has retired and we want to spend more time together," said Mrs Roberts, who was until last year Otmoor county councillor.
A former Cherwell councillor Barry Wood is seeking to get back after losing his Bicester seat a few years ago.
Mr Wood, county councillor for Otmoor, is hoping to capture Fringford for the Conservatives as he has recently moved to Finmere. He is a Bicester town councillor and former Bicester town mayor.
All 17 Cherwell seats are being contested mostly with three-cornered fights between Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrats.
The political make-up of Cherwell is now Labour 26, Conservative 15, Liberal Democrat seven, Independent four. * denotes sitting councillor
