DAD Paul Belcher was found guilty of dealing in drugs which would "blow your head off".

The 29-year-old, of St Nicholas Road, Wallingford, denied possessing 64g of amphetamine sulphate and 256g of cannabis with intent to supply after he was caught with drugs with a street value of more than £10,000.

It took a jury at Oxford Crown Court less than an hour to find him guilty after a two-day trial.

Oxford police drugs expert Det Con Paul Norley had told the court that the amphetamines seized from Belcher on his arrest last August were "the strongest I've ever come across."

There were 1,539 seizures of the drug in the UK last year but only four had a purity as high as that taken from Belcher, the Court heard. Belcher claimed that the drugs were for his personal use but Det Con Norley said they would be cut several times and sold.

He said that taking pure amphetamines would "blow your head off".

Following his conviction, the court heard that Belcher has previous convictions for drugs. He will be sentenced later.

The judge ordered a not guilty verdict on a third charge of allowing cannabis to be smoked on Belcher's premises.
