VITAL revision notes stolen from the car of a young executive have turned up - in the men's toilet at Bicester Football Club.

They went missing after thieves threw a brick through the window of a Mazda car and stole a cream shoulder bag containing an orange notebook.

Distraught Elizabeth Gaffer, 33, of Kings End, Bicester, needed the notes for an important psychology exam taking place at London University later this month.

The raid happened between 10.30pm on Wednesday and 7am on Thursday last week.

Ms Gaffer told police: "I was devastated when I saw the car in the morning. I scoured the area for hours hoping the notes had been dumped somewhere."

The notebook eventually turned up in the gentlemen's toilets at Bicester Football Club at the weekend.

A man who did not want to be identified handed it into Bicester Police Station and officers notified a delighted Ms Gaffer.

Police launched Operation Jaguar three months ago to crack-down on car crime in north Oxfordshire.

Operation spokesman PC Steve Convey said officers had already made 40 related arrests and gathered significant intelligence.

But he added: "The message from this incident is don't leave anything tempting on show when a vehicle is unattended."

Anyone with information about a car crime should contact Bicester Police Station on 01865 266803.
