TEENAGER Mark Evans, who broke his neck when he fell from a ride at Thame fair, is recovering after an operation.

A piece of bone was taken from his hip and put into his neck. His condition today was satisfactory.

His policeman father Gareth said at their home in Willow Road, Thame: "Mark has full movement after the operation." "He is not up to talking much about things yet but he does know how serious it could have been.

"Meanwhile everyone is touching wood, crossing fingers and just praying that the bone graft takes well and he is up and about very soon."

Mark, 18, a landscape gardener, was injured at the fair on Thursday when he was out with friends for the evening.

He fell from the Shockwave ride outside Thame town hall.

An inquiry by the health and safety executive allowed the ride to continue on Friday and Saturday evenings.
