Midlands-based car company Peugeot has held out the hope of creating more than 3,000 extra jobs. The company said it was "in a good position" to introduce an extra, third, shift at its Ryton plant at Coventry where its new Peugeot 206 model is being made. Peugeot managing director Richard Parham spoke as his company showed off the new 206, complete with dancers and a trapeze artist, at the Birmingham Motor Show.

Already on sale in Europe, the 206 goes on sale in the UK on November 5.
