OXFORD United will not be pursuing their interest in Swedish goalkeeper Paul Lundin, who has returned home after a week's trial at the Manor Ground.

The 33-year-old kept a clean sheet in United Reserves' 2-0 win over Fulham last week, and acquitted himself well in the 1-0 home defeat by Bournemouth Reserves on Monday.

But when asked if they would be asking Lundin back, United manager Malcolm Shotton said: "At the moment, no. But we might keep an eye on the situation in the future."

Lundin, who is with Swedish club Osters and was available on a free transfer, came to the Manor on a recommendation from United centre-back Mark Watson.

And Shotton added after Monday's game: "He did all right, to be fair to him. He had a couple of saves in the space of five seconds and one save in the second half, and did all he had to.

"But basically, he came for a trial and now he has gone back to Sweden. We bought him over for just one game and then we extended it for a week." Shotton may now go back to Everton and try to extend Paul Gerrard's second loan spell, which ends after Saturday's match against Division 1 leaders Sunderland at the Manor.

Waiting in the wings is 21-year-old Elliot Jackson. He impressed in the two FA Cup ties against Chelsea, but has been unable to establish himself as first choice.
