OXFORD weighed in at an average of nearly 11lbs more than their Cambridge counterparts when they came face to face at London's Hurlingham Club for the official weigh-in yesterday for this Saturday's University Boat race.

The Dark Blues have two returning from last year's crew - Dan Snow and American Toby Ayer - along with the president Nick Robinson, who rowed in the 1997 and 1998 Boat Races. Ben Burch and cox Kajsa McLaren, who were also in the 1999 Isis crew, have progressed to the Blue Boat and there are four new men - Matt Smith, Andrew Dunn, Eink Lilledahl and American Alex Reid.

A crew change from Cambridge at the beginning of March means that the president, Richard Stokes, will now stroke the Blue Boat. He is joined by three of his crew mates from last year's Goldie boat Dan Tweedie, Ronan Cantwell and cox Gideon Glassman - plus two of last year's winning Boat Race crew, Tom Stallard and Josh West, the tallest man to have rowed in the race at 6ft 9ins.

The Goldie and Isis crews also weighed in with the Cambridge reserves weighing in at just over 10 lbs more than Oxford's Isis crew.

Oxford Blue Boat: A Dunn (bow) 6ft 4 ins, 13st 6lb; N Robinson 6ft 5, 14st 6lb; B Burch 6ft 5, 14st 8lb; M Smith 6ft 1lb, 12st; D Snow 6ft 6lb, 15st 9lb; T Ayer 6ft 5, 15st 12lb; E Lilledahl 6ft 4, 14st 3lb; A Reid (stroke) 6ft 6, 14st 5lb; K McLaren (cox) 4ft 10, 7st 1lb.
