IT was an all-Morrells Sam Waters County Cup final and Six Bells, Kidlington, raised their game to take the glory by defeating Star Royal 3-1, writes Geoff Bower.

Bells put their indifferent league form behind them and started with a flourish at a sunny Court Place Farm, taking the lead through Frasier Gills after only five minutes.

Star Royal were not going to give in easily and took the game to Bells, forcing a free kick on the edge of the area after 12 minutes, which Steve Jenkins thumped home to pull them level.

Paul Stone restored the lead with a neat chip and made it 3-1 before the break. Royal had two players sent off in the second half.

In the Morrells Sunday League Premier Division, Star Wanderers and Mansfield Road appeared to be heading for a dull 0-0 draw when the game came to life in the last five minutes.

A long punt from Wanderers keeper Paul Hunt was brought down beautifully on the edge of the area by Craig Simpson, who made no mistake. Mansfield levelled from the penalty spot two minutes later through Tony Shaw. However, Wanderers were not to be denied and Simpson cut in from the left to fire home.
