Witney-based Ian Beck stole the show with four gold medals and a GB and European record at the Midland Masters at Leamington Spa.

Beck triumphed in the 100m freestyle, 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly with his European record coming in the latter event. He also set three county records.

Beck was the star performer for the Witney team who returned home with seven golds, seven silvers and two bronze medals plus ten new county records.

David Hall struck gold in the 200m individual medley and silver in the 100m butterfly, setting county records in the process. Brian Reed won silver in the 200m breaststroke and bronze medals in the 50m and 100m butterfly also with county bests.

In the women's section, Lynne Tanner won gold medals in the 100m and 50m butterfly and silvers in the 200m and 100m individual medley and 100m backstroke.

Sheena Derry won silver in the 200m breaststroke with a county record, while Charlotte Renowden set a county best in the 200m breaststroke and Sue Helm took silver in the 400m freestyle.

**Kidlington and Gosford's juniors found the pace a bit too hot to handle at Bromsgrove where they came fifth.

First places were secured in the 12-year age group by Laura Holmes (backstroke) and Trevor Lyle (butterfly).

***A team of nine Witney-based swimmers took part in the Midland Masters at Leamington Spa (Friday 28 to Sunday 30 April) where Ian Beck was the star performer taking four gold medals, setting three county records and creating a new GB and European record in the 200 metres butterfly event.
