The friend of a man killed in a hit-and-run accident is launching a fresh appeal for witnesses.

To tie in with Road Safety Week, John Pruden is urging people with information about the accident that claimed Chris Oulds's life to come forward.

He is also holding a music festival in his friend's memory

Mr Pruden, of Bovewell, Souldern, near Bicester, said: "I would like to appeal to any passengers who were in the car at the time of Chris's killing to clear their conscience by coming forward and giving the name of the driver to the police.

"Guilt can have a devastating effect on people's lives and it could possibly rear its ugly head in the form of depression anxiety and in some cases. "I cannot emphasise enough the impact this tragedy has had on Chris's family and friends, the pain, the grieving, the devastation and the anger."

Mr Oulds, of Hailles Gardens, Bicester, died on October 9 just hours after being best man at Mr Pruden's wedding.

He was hit by a stolen A-reg Austin Maestro in an unlit stretch of road between Ardley and Somerton as he walked home from Fritwell.

The rock and folk rock music festival, at The Plough, Arncott, on Friday and Saturday, will raise funds for Oxfam's Mozambique flood disaster appeal. Mr Pruden said: "He knew a lot of the musicians performing in the festival and he liked music so that is why I am doing this festival."

Acts appearing include John Otway, Superunknown, Unperson, Ticklers Twist and EMA.

Tickets are 3 for Friday, 7 for Saturday or 10 for both days.

Anyone with information about the accident can call PC Andy Cadd on 01869 364892 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
