An Oxfordshire college of further education has won cash from the Further Education Funding Council (FEFC) after being chosewn as being top of the class for good practice.
The council nominated Abingdon College, in Northcourt Road, Abingdon, as a template for good practice and is encouraging colleges across the country to consult it to find out how a college should be run.
The FEFC has awarded the college 7,500 to cover its expenses in advising other establishments across the country. About 50 colleges have already contacted staff at Abingdon for advice. The college has also produced its own guide to good practice, detailing how to measure the performance of governors' boards, training and development plans.
Director of finance Sue Webb said: "We are pleased to be able to share the good practice that we have developed over the years with other governing bodies."
