Former primary school teacher Jane Williams has gone to the top of the class after swapping her blackboard for a keyboard.
Jane, 24, of Chinnor, left teaching to pursue a career in information technology.
She signed up for a course run by distance learning company Computeach International and clinched a job as an analyst/programmer with a company producing computer systems for travel operators before completing the course.
She said: "Distance learning was convenient because it seemed to offer more in the way of flexibility, which was important to me while teaching, because of the great workload teachers have." Computeach managing director Paul Harrison said: "Although most of our successful students secure employment on the strength of the qualifications they gain, there are exceptional cases like Jane's where they get launched into new careers before even qualifying."
