Oxfordshire was well represented at the UK Carpets Challenge Shield Tournament, held at Crowmarsh, Berks.

Seven of the ten finals were contested by Oxfordshire players and James Franklin was awarded the best player of the tournament after appearing in four.

James was unfortunate to be beaten in both the under 16 and under 14 singles finals but he and partner Ben Morrell won both the under 16 and open doubles titles.

Another Oxfordshire pair, Jonathan Maskens and Thomas Calnan, won the under 14 boys doubles titles having previously faced each other in the under 14 final where Jonathan was the victor. Matthew Watkins, from Abingdon, completed another fine display from Oxfordshire players to capture the under 12 title.

Despite rain disruptions, the tournament was a great success for Oxfordshire's boys who faced competitions from players from as far afield as the Channel Islands.
