Maidenhead Utd 0, Thame Utd 1
Thame completed the double over their long-time Ryman League Division 1 promotion rivals Maidenhead in their final game of the season on Saturday.
Although the result was academic after Maidenhead pipped Thame for the third promotion spot in midweek, the home side's celebrations had to be put on hold as the visitors spoiled the party.
The game was won with a goal of real quality which deserved a greater significance. Mark West, who had earlier seen a tremendous drive from outside the box rattle a post, was the scorer.
He met Mark Jones's 33rd-minute corner with a spectacular overhead bicycle kick to beat the bemused Keiran Drake in the home goal. Thame introduced youngsters Enzo Silvestri and Danny Curran to Ryman League football and both acquitted themselves well.
On the final whistle. Maidenhead began their delayed celebrations and left Thame thinking of what might have been.
