Oxford City 1, Bedford Tn 2

Oxford City ended a hectic season in Ryman Division 1 by going down to Bedford in their eighth game in 14 days.

In the tenth minute, the Eagles had a real let-off. Dwaine Strong saw his drive beaten out by Lomas and successive shots from Danny Wise and then Chris Potter were cleared off the line.

City had their own escape on the half-hour when Slinn miskicked in front of goal.

The home side went ahead in the 54th minute when a low cross from Shaun Wimble was met at the far post by midfielder Andy Smith for his 17th goal of the season. Slinn sent a low drive against City's post before Bedford equalised in the 63rd minute when a splendid 25-yard drive by Lawley left Alan Foster groping thin air.

It was the Eagles who were now looking the more likely winners, and they took the lead in the 69th minute when Payne turned in a cross from Daniels.

Tate Hulbert's control let him down when clear and Wise had another chance, but the visitors were in control and ran out deserved winners.
