Abingdon Tn 0, Corinthian Casuals 0
Abingdon Town's final game of the season in Ryman Division 3 reflected much of their campaign as they showed plenty of promise, but lacked a cutting edge in this goalless draw at Culham Road on Saturday.
Town had enough opportunities to have won the game at a canter in the first half, but Gary Atkins, Robbie Wyatt, Roger Charles and Scott O'Donoghue were all off target.
Atkins was particularly unlucky when he was put clear by Tristan Didcock, but his clever lob narrowly cleared the Casuals bar. On a hot day it was not surprising that the pace of the game fell away a little in the second half, but to their credit Abingdon continued with their passing game.
However, too many times their attacks broke down in the final third of the pitch where Corinthian Casuals' defence proved pretty resolute.
For Abingdon, Didcock and Charles were impressive, dominating the midfield battle, while Ben Border looked assured and confident again at fullback.
There were few clear-cut scoring opportunities during the second half and for Town keeper Jason McLaughlin it must have been the least active 90 minutes since he joined the club.
