Face-painting, a bouncy castle and a chance to see friends and neighbours in the stocks were on offer at an open day at an Oxford pre-school.
Cherry Tree Pre-School, at Headington Community Centre in Gladstone Road, hosted a barbecue with entertainments including games and stalls.
Organiser Tanya Field said: "Like many playgroups, Cherry Tree has been struggling to make ends meet. Spirits were really low after a fire last month that destroyed our storage shed and part of our garage.
"Our summer barbecue is a great chance for a jolly get-together.
"We hope to have raised enough funds for some outdoor play equipment."
