Witney Lakes professional Mark Booth's bid to qualify for this week's Open Championship at St Andrews came to a premature end when he had his clubs stolen.
Booth had left the clubs in his car overnight following a first round 78 in the qualifying competition at Lundin Links on Sunday.
"When I came out of the hotel in Kirkcaldy , I discovered that my car was one of three to have been broken into overnight," exclaimed a distraught Booth.
Booth, who joined Witney Lakes at their touring pro last month but still lives in North Bucks, promptly withdrew from the tournament.
