Prince Andrew flew into an Oxfordshire airbase to try out a new 100m training centre and chat to local schoolchildren.
The pilot prince was all smiles as he arrived at RAF Benson, near Wallingford, to open its state-of-the-art helicopter flight simulator unit.
The Duke of York who is an accomplished helicopter pilot with the Royal Navy unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion and took to the controls for his own virtual helicopter flight. After touching down, he chatted to personnel at the base and met a party of pupils from RAF Benson Primary School.
The prince delighted his hosts as he joked about his naval experience. He said: "There are six simulators here. You can't fly all of them at once, but those of us who are naval helicopter pilots can have a jolly good try."
Base spokesman, FO Sally Barber said: "It has been an honour for the station to have the Prince here to open this facility."
Before leaving, the Prince joked with pupils and teachers.
