Police launched a high-speed chase through an Oxfordshire village after a man robbed a building society office.
Eynsham area beat officer Pc Simon Harbour pursued the Ford estate getaway car while the Thames Valley Police helicopter hovered overhead.
Police spokesman David Campbell said: "It started when a man walked into Abbey Properties, a building society office in High Street, around about 2.30pm yesterday afternoon.
"He had a chisel in his hand which he was using as a threatening weapon and demanded money. "He got away with a substantial amount of cash, over four figures, and was seen to go outside and get into a car with others inside it.
"It was pursued hotly by Pc Harbour."
The high-speed chase was seen by villagers, including Anne Parker, who was attending a sports day for children at Eynsham Primary School in Beech Road.
She said: "The police helicopter was making a noise circling overhead and around the fields." Police said later that two men and two women had been arrested and taken to Witney police station for questioning on suspicion of robbery.
