Greyhound punters will no longer have to go to the dogs to keep track of races from this week they can simply log on to keep up.

The service, which is not yet available to punters betting on races at Oxford Stadium, will be provided by bookies Ladbrokes.

Live Internet broadcasts will be shown from selected greyhound tracks on its online betting sites.

First out of the traps will be Ladbrokes' Crayford and Monmore Green racecourses, and the group is in talks with other tracks around the country about securing Internet broadcast rights to their races.

But because of the speed at which greyhounds race, the Internet pictures will currently not be able to compete with broadcast quality snaps.

Ladbrokes, part of the hotel and leisure group Hilton, hopes the online service will prove popular with international supporters who find it difficult to get to races. The company said grey- hound racing was Britain's second most popular sport after football, and the second biggest UK betting market after horseracing.

The free broadcasts will be available by log- ging on to www.ladbrokes.co.uk and also on the company's tax-free, multi-lingual betting website www.ladbrokes.com
