Mini sales are up 25 per cent on last year, with just a month to go before production of this 41-year old motoring icon finishes in mid-September 2000, writes David Duffy.

John Sanders, group marketing director, said: "Mini has been at the centre of small car culture for 40 years and the car is a recognised icon of design and engineering, loved by generations of fans the world over."

With a limited number of cars remaining, customers wishing to buy one of the last Classic Minis are advised to contact their nearest Rover dealer quickly.

Three versions are available Mini Seven at 8,495, Mini Cooper at 8,995 and the Mini Cooper Sport at 9,995. These on-the-road prices include the current ten per cent price reduction.
