Youngsters at a primary school gave thanks for the harvest by donating gifts to local pensioners, writes Peter Barrington.

The pupils of St Edburg's primary school in Bicester took fruit, vegetables and tinned food to residents at St Edburg House old people's home in Old Place Yard after their harvest service.

Headteacher Gill Harrison said: "We have given the food to the home for the past two years after our service in St Edburg's parish church.

"We see it as an example of community relations. Children brought the items for display at the service from their own homes."
