A second-half strike from Kevin Lewis gave Carterton the points in atrocious conditions of rain and wind.
Scott Taylor, Paul Sherwood and Jason Cook all went close for the home side in the first half, while Highworth keeper Anthony Betterton made some fine saves.
The second half was only a minute old when a three-man move started by outstanding 17-year-old Carl Dodds produced the winner.
James Mortimer Jones sent a long ball into the box and when the Highworth keeper let the ball slip through his hands, Lewis pounced for the winner.
Craig Dore, Andy Henry and Carl Dodds were outstanding for Carterton.
