A motorcyclist died in a head-on smash with a car near Didcot last night.
The rider was killed when his 600cc Yamaha Fazer machine and a Mercedes saloon collided on the Downs between the villages of Chilton and West Hagbourne.
The motorbike had just reached the top of West Hagbourne Hill, which links the A34 with the A417 Wantage to Reading road, when the crash occurred just before 8pm.
The driver and passenger of the Mercedes were uninjured.
The road was closed for five hours.
The motorcyclist, who has not been named, is believed to have lived locally.
The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene.
