Cogges Manor Farm Museum, in Witney is to remain closed to visitors in Oxfordshire, despite foot and mouth restrictions being lifted.

The farm, which is home to traditional farm breeds of pigs, sheep, cows and goats, has said it intends to remain closed until further notice.

The museum was due to re-open on May 1.

The museum's manager Clare Pope said: "Happily, all the animals at Cogges are in very good health. We have had a very successful lambing season and deeply regret that visitors are unable to come and see the new arrivals.

"However, we are extremely conscious of the devastating effect that foot and mouth is having across the countryside and can not consider taking the risk of opening a site where visitors would unavoidably be in close contact with the animals."
