Gary Harrison scored a goal in each half to give Banbury maximum points in last night's Dr Martens League Eastern Division clash played on a very wet but firm surface
Banbury took the lead in the 17th minute. Ady Fuller's corner was not fully cleared, and he crossed back into the area.
Terry Muckelberg headed back across to Matty Gooderick, who knocked the ball forward, and although Spalding 'keeper Damien Steer moved to cover the danger, Harrison got there first and prodded the ball home.
Harrison then hit the side-netting as Banbury were well worth their half-time lead.
After Steer had saved Gooderick's 25-yard effort, the all-important second goal arrived in the 66th minute. Gooderick broke up the right flank, and when he sent over a hard, low cross, Harrison was on hand to sidefoot the ball home from five yards.
George Redknap hit a 25 yard effort just over the bar while Jody McKay fired just wide as Banbury stayed on top.
Banbury Utd: Tricker, Wallbridge, Redknap, McCrae, Muckelberg, Fuller, Corbett, Sherlock, Harrison (Jenkins 88), Gooderick (Thompson 90), McKay. Sub: Brock (not used)
