Developers were today outlining their plans for an £18m development of the former Oxford Prison and Castle site.
Plans for a 74-bedroom hotel, heritage museum, education and exhibition centre, restaurants, shops and fitness centre were being explained to city council planning committee members.
The public will get a chance to view the plans and voice opinions at a special public meeting in the Town Hall on May 2 at 7.30pm.
Murray Hancock, head of planning control and conservation at the city council, said reaction so far had been mostly positive.
The Osborne Group developers want a new two-storey building with a roof garden at the New Road entrance, which will house a 100-seat restaurant. The scheme also includes a 14-bed hotel, 33 flats, a swimming pool and a health centre.
