An agreement has been reached to hold a series of four monthly farmers' markets in Wallingford's Market Place.
Plans for the town to have its own farmers' market have been in the pipeline for weeks, but its location has been a sticking point.
Wallingford Business 2000, which received a £2,000 grant from South Oxfordshire District Council to set up the market, was resigned to holding it at several different sites, including the car park of the George Hotel.
But following a meeting with Jim McBeth, the spokesman for the town's Charter market stallholders, and the town council, the Market Place is now the agreed venue.
Farmers' markets will be held there, selling local produce such as cheese, eggs, wine, and fruit and vegetables, on the third Tuesday of the month, starting on June 19.
Pat Hayward, chairman of WB2000, said she was delighted the offer of the Market Place had been made. She hadn't realised the 1663 Charter allowed for two markets a week.
She said: "I think this will bring a lot of people into the town."
She added: "We want the farmers' market to be sustainable after the first four."
