A decision on how much Thame Town Council is willing to pay for crime-cutting CCTV cameras has been put on hold.
Members will wait until after the elections in June.
Once the new council is in place, a fresh look will be taken at closed circuit television cameras for the town centre.
South Oxfordshire District Council's bid for Home Office funding for CCTV cameras in Thame, Wallingford, Didcot and Henley failed.
But a district-wide survey found an overwhelming majority of people wanted the cameras because they believe the cameras will cut crime and vandalism.
Now the district council is asking the towns how much they will pay.
