Who would be a team manager? Many fans at last Friday's epic encounter against Ipswich wanted to know why Ales Dryml wasn't used as a reserve replacement for Andrew Appleton in heat 14, which almost swayed the verdict for the Witches.
After all, Ales has been in form and if he had gated, he could have caused a few problems for a certain Mr Boyce, who ran Oxford ragged in the latter heats.
Another fan also questioned their decision to put Brian Andersen in heat 15 instead of regular Todd Wiltshire.
Wiltshire is nowhere near as sharp as last year due to his virus, but he was still gating well and he, too, could have caused problems at the first bend.
On the whole, the management team of Colin Meredith and Richard Palmer do a good job considering both have other important commitments on the night.
Richard does the centre green presenting, and Colin is the track curator. While there is little to be done with the latter post once the meeting is up and running, the former post requires near 100 per cent attention.
I'm sure whatever decisions they make - and don't forget they are in the pits and closely touch with the riders, while the fans are on the terraces - they are made with the best of intentions.
If they work, they are magic, but if they don't, you will never stop the fans having their own ideas of what's best.
