Witney ended a run of 11 matches without a win in the Dr Martens Eastern Division with a convincing 3-1 victory on the south coast last night.

Putting worries about the club's future behind them, Witney looked livelier from the start and could have won by a more convincing margin.

Matt Hendra, Dominic Dunton and Tom Radcliffe all had chances before Witney opened the scoring in the 35th minute.

A long defensive clearance was headed on by Hendra into the path of Keith Knight, whose perfectly struck shot gave the keeper no chance.

St Leonards tested Witney more in the second half and equalised in the 74th minute, Dominic Barclay turning in a driven cross after Witney's defence failed to clear.

Within five minutes, Town were back in front. Hendra did well on the left, and his cross was struck home by Murphy.

With four minutes left, substitute Paul O'Hare was fouled to earn Witney a penalty and Dunton's fiercely struck spot-kick completed the scoring.

Witney Town: King, Murphy, Radcliffe, Swann, Dunton, Tavinor, Knight (O'Hare 70), Caffel, Hendra, Burnley, Maskell. Subs not used: Hughes, Willetts.

*Witney continue their hectic schedule tonight when they make the trip to Newport, Isle of Wight.

Oxford City travel to Staines in Ryman Division 1, while Abingdon Town are at home to Ashford in Division 3.
