Oxford United's arch rivals Swindon Town look increasingly likely to join them in the third division next season as the Division 2 relegation dogfight hotted up.

Saturday's visitors to the Manor, Swansea City, and Joe Kinnear's Luton Town are down already with United, but Cambridge did themselves a big favour by coming back from 2-0 down last night to snatch a vital point at Brentford.

The U's met old enemies Swindon in March and lost 2-0

It lifted them two places in the table, level on points with Swindon, but with a crucial game in hand.

Swindon are one point above Bristol Rovers, who thrashed United 6-2 last Saturday, in the drop zone. But Rovers have two matches in hand, and that could spell doom for Swindon.

Wycombe are not out of the woods yet - their match at Notts County was abandoned after five minutes last night following a downpour - but they too have games in hand.

Swindon are at home to Peterborough on Saturday and their crunch game will be their final fixture, away to Stoke City, who are battling for a place in the promotion play-offs.

Swindon have also been hit by the discovery that on-loan Sunderland striker Michael Reddy will be ineligible for the Stoke match. His three-match loan expires after the Peterborough game and cannot now be extended.

Wycombe's game at Notts County has now been rescheduled for tonight.
