East Hendred lifted the Autotype UTV League's Devenney Cup with a 1-0 win over Chilton at Wantage Town.

It was fourth time lucky for Hendred, who have been runners-up on three occasions in recent years.

Jason Fisher grabbed the only goal of the match, powerfully heading home a Glyn Evans corner kick in the 12th minute.

Chilton keeper Ben Duke then pulled off a superb reaction save to deny Matty Goddard.

Chilton fought back after the break, with Hendred keeper Matty Turner keeping out Martin Parsons and then pulling off a fingertip save from a Roger Crook shot.

But, despite further good efforts from Parsons and Lee Newport, the Hendred defence held on to their slender lead to secure their first trophy since joining the league in 1980.

Division 2 leaders King Alfred's Head saw off the challenge of title rivals Burford United, beating them 5-2.

Alfred's goals came from James Buchanan (2), Chris Roche (2) and Frankie Dorrian.

Having beaten JPs 4-0 during the week, Standlake Garage looked likely to repeat the victory in the return fixture as they took an early 2-0 lead.

But they went down 3-2 as JPs fought back with goals from Danny Cleevely (2) and Danny Hinchcliffe.

Long Wittenham rebounded from last week's defeat in the final of the Ridgeway Cup with a 6-3 win against JET.

Goals from Andy Burton and Nigel Cooke gave them a 2-0 interval lead and further strikes from Steve Slater (2) and Tom Young (2) ensured that they kept up with the leaders.

Ian Wall, Bob Brooks and Jon Wright were on target for JET.

Brewery Tap Res beat Exiles 2000 4-3 with goals from Gareth Walker (2), Paul Matthews and Steve Hendry. Will Peddie, Gary Neville and Alan Draper replied.

In Division 3B, George and Dragon Upton are 13 points ahead of the pack after beating The Dolphin 5-1 with goals from Andy Smith (2), Colin Prior, J R Willis and Nic Guiry. Karl Youhill replied for Dolphin.
