A teenager who had never taken his driving test and was already banned from driving died in a crash.

Four other young people were in the Nissan Sunny driven by Kurt Kuhne, 18, of Jerome Way, Shipton-on-Cherwell, when it hit a wall in North Aston Road, Duns Tew.

Mr Kuhne, who was over the legal drink-drive limit, died at the scene on July 25 last year.

An inquest heard the group had gone to a pub in Duns Tew. Damien Blake, of Morland Court, Banbury, was in the front passenger seat.

He said: "We were going down a slope and then we went round a corner. Kurt started turning.

"Then the back of the car just dropped and we hit a wall." Mr Blake got out of the car and helped a female passenger out.

Another passenger, Charles Long, of South Avenue, Kidlington, ran for help while a fourth person climbed out of the car.

Mr Blake said Mr Kuhne was not moving: "I was trying to get him out but I couldn't. Then I think I just gave up. I didn't think about checking his pulse. I didn't think he was alive."

Pc Terry Anderson said the speed limit on the road is 60mph, but no driver could negotiate the bend at more than 46mph.

He added: "Kurt might not have got around that bend even at a lower speed."

Dr Godman Greywood, consultant pathologist, said Mr Kuhne died of severe multiple injuries and had 131mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his body - the legal limit is 80mg.

Oxfordshire Coroner Nicholas Gardiner recorded a verdict of accidental death. He said: "It is quite clear to me Mr Kuhne was an inexperienced driver. He was drinking to a level that would take him over the legal limit."
