Cambridge Univ 3 CAMBRIDGE ended a run of 12 games without a win when they beat Oxford in the 117th Varsity Match at the Manor Ground last night.

The Light Blues were gifted the win with two goals from penalties.

The match was barely a minute old when Irvin Studin handled in the area, and Damian Kelley sent Oxford keeper Tom Casarella the wrong way from the spot.

Oxford equalised after 32 minutes through Osman Akkaya's spectacular dipping volley from 25 yards.

On the stroke of half-time, David Harding restored the Light Blues following a throw-in.

Midway through the second half, a clearance by Casarella was intercepted and played into the area, where Oxford captain James Redmayne brought down Goran Glamocak. Kelley again converted the penalty.
