Playgroup staff have been praised for their enthusiasm, experience and knowledge.

Inspectors from the Office for Standards in Education have also marked up Minster Lovell Playgroup for its "high standard" of nursery education.

They visited the group, which meets on weekday mornings at the village's St Kenelm's School, during two sessions in March and looked into the key areas of play and learning.

Inspector Jill Milton said, "The quality of teaching is very good.

"The enthusiasm of the experienced and knowledgeable staff has a positive effect on the children's learning."

Supervisor Linda Jeffrey, supported by assistants Claire Hipkin and Wendy Wilkins, have 23 children, aged between two and a half and five-years-old, attending the playgroup sessions.

Inspectors pointed out two areas for improvement.

They think the nursery should provide more indoor equipment is needed for games and staff should be aware of special education needs.

The playgroup has places available for children from Witney and the surrounding villages.
