An auction of memorabilia from the Manor, the ground that Oxford United will be leaving next month after a stay of 76 years, raised more than £10,000 for the club.
So many more people than expected attended Saturday's auction that it had to be moved outside to the Beech Road terrace.
Some signs fetched up to £500.
Martin Popple bought the club arch
The distinctive Manor archway entrance in London Road was bought by Martin Popple, from Ardington, who made the only bid of £100.
Said Martin: "I've no idea what I'm going to do with it, but when I saw it on the internet I though it was a superb piece of memorabilia and I couldn't let it go for scrap.
"I was amazed mine was the only bid, I thought it would go for four figures."
Martin, who will have to dismantle the arch himself, particularly wanted the bull and Oxford United sign on top, but he is happy to let the arch go to a good cause.
"I'd be pleased to let it go to a museum or some charity, or perhaps United might want it for their new stadium," he added.
