Performing arts students at North Oxfordshire College are celebrating after being offered places at some of the country's top drama schools.

Every year students on the BTEC course consistently secure places at top schools but this year's group have surpassed all previous efforts.

The 12 students have between them been offered a total of 20 places at universities, colleges of higher education and drama schools across the country, including the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

The students are Rebecca Bailey, Tania Roberts, Thomas Durrand, Philip Combus, Luke Evans, Karen Osenton, Robert Chaplin, Carl Lake, Alexandra Vulliany, Jane Collins, Layla Williams and Jessica Claydon.

Course tutor Nasser Memarzia said: "We pride ourselves in providing fertile grounds for enthusiastic and committed local talent to prepare and secure places in prestigious and specialised drama courses nationally. The competition for places in the top drama schools is particularly fierce."

Henry Box School pupil Gugu Mbatha-Raw, 18, also won a place RADA.
