Star pupil Jasmine Ebede has achieved an impressive 100 per cent attendance at school for a remarkable five years running.

Her achievement is being celebrated at St Augustine of Canterbury Upper School in Iffley Turn, Iffley, Oxford.

Jasmine EbedeThe school is among only 50 across the country to have won a Truancy Buster Award from the Government for successfully tackling the problem of truancy, earlier this year. And Jasmine's achievement has boosted it's reputation further.

The 16-year-old, who lives in Cowley, has not missed a single day of school in the last five years and is the only pupil to have done so.

Explaining her success, she said: "If I miss school, then I have to catch up. I like to see my friends. I like the school and don't mind coming."

Proud headteacher Elisabeth Gilpin, said: "Jasmine has a positive attitude to learning and does not let small problems like colds and headaches prevent her attending school."

Jasmine's mother, Trudy Ebede, said her daughter was a popular girl who loved going to school. She said: "As Jasmine's parents we are extremely proud. She has consistently worked hard. She is such a pleasure to have around. Jasmine is always full of respect for everyone she meets. In return she is respected. I know she is looking forward to being a sixth-former."
