A biker was taken to hospital and two others injured when a car was in collision with the back markers on a 300-strong parade.

The accident happened on the B4009 Lower Icknield Way as riders involved in the Chinnor Bike Day rode into the village.

Off-duty traffic policeman Andy Martin from Amersham was marshalling the parade, which had set off from Thame, and was on the scene in seconds.

The accident happened as a car overtook the cavalcade, and was in collision with three motorcyclists.

Keith Mills, from Chinnor, was taken to Wycombe General Hospital where he had a broken leg pinned and cuts on his arms treated. Two other bikers had cuts and bruises, but did not need hospital treatment. Organiser Paul Minton, of Greenwood Avenue, Chinnor, said: "It put a black cloud on the day."

The Bikers' Day was in aid of Thame Phab Club, which integrates physically handicapped and able-bodied people, and the Bucks Association for the Blind.

Phab Club chairman Christine Townsend said: "We were very sorry to hear about Mr Mills and wish him a very speedy recovery."

On the village recreation ground were bikes of all shapes and sizes - customised chicken chasers, big three-wheelers, Honda Goldwings, other Japanese and Italian bikes and a host of Harleys.

Mr Minton said they hoped to have topped the £1,500 they made last year for the charities.

Wycombe Hospital said that Mr Mills' condition is "stable".

The driver of the car has been interviewed by police and inquiries are continuing.
