Fans of Barbie were treated to a living, breathing doll when a real-life Barbie called in at Denton's toystore in Witney yesterday.

Stephanie Puffitt-Poynter, of Hooks Close, Langford, near Witney, won the Barbie Pop Out Picnic Vehicle Competition in the Witney Gazette, when her name was pulled from a hat at the store.

Stephanie Puffitt-Poynter with BarbieBarbie entertained her fans and their parents for more than six hours.

More than one billion dolls have been sold since her creation in 1959 and it is estimated that girls in the UK own an average of seven Barbies.

Shop manager Jane Dickinson said: "The visit was very popular, the shop was crowded."

During the visit young fans received friendship bracelets and photographs to add to their collections.
