A Desperate husband has appealed for help to find his wife who vanished after telling him she was going to collect their son from nursery, writes Emma Henry.

Noreen Mehmood, 45, went missing from her home in Faulkner Street, St Ebbe's, at 11am on Tuesday.

She failed to pick up her three-year-old son Sheraz from Grandpont Nursery in Whitehouse Road at 11.30am.

Police are becoming increasingly concerned about her whereabouts as Mrs Mehmood is devoted to her family and did not appear to be unhap2py.

Her husband Asad, a self-employed taxi-driver, has appealed for his wife to get in touch.

He said: "We are missing her so much. The house is empty without her. Sheraz is crying every night and morning, it's very hard for him.

"We have been married for seven years and I can't see any reason why she would do this. She was not depressed or ill and hadn't had any recent bereavements.

"Noreen, if you can read this -- please come home." Mr Mehmood, 32, said the last time he saw his wife, she was painting the bathroom: "She seemed absolutely normal and told me she was going to pick up our son. But I received a call from the nursery at 11.55am saying nobody had come to collect him.

"I went to get him and then went home. I thought maybe she had just forgotten, or hadn't been able to hear the phone. But she wasn't there."

Mr Mehmood said his wife had taken her passport or any extra clothes.

Mrs Mehmood is originally from County Limerick in Ireland.

She is about 5ft 2in tall, medium build, and walks with a slight limp. She has black hair and green eyes.

She was wearing a light pink and green shalwar kameez, a black canvas jacket and black sandals.
