Trysports Women's League

Oxford University took the honours with a 2-1 win in their top-of-the-table Trysports 3 Counties League local derby against Oxford Hawks at Iffley Road.

There was much at stake in the game. As well as being a Town v Gown battle, both teams were top of Division 1, together with Reading, and a win would give either side the chance of moving into clear first place.

The game was evenly balanced, with Hawks having the better of the chances in the first half.

After the break, the University went ahead following a short corner, but with ten minutes to go, Hawks equalised when Vicky Easton's strike was stopped on the line by a foot, and Sue Clark converted the resulting penalty stroke.

However, it was the students who claimed the points with just five minutes remaining.

City of Oxford came unstuck against table-topping Marlow in Division 2, going down 3-2 at home. Amie Tuckwell and Amanda Pearce-Higgins got the goals.

West Witney 3rd had a superb start to the second half of the season with a 1-0 victory at Phoenix Ranleigh 1A in Division 3, Kath Brooke converting a short corner for the only goal.

Wychwood Ladies maintained their march at the top of Division 4 with a 6-0 destruction of Maidenhead 3A at Carterton. Aimee Shaw hit a hat-trick and Carmen Hillier (2) and Catherine Forteath got the others.

Abingdon 2nd were beaten 3-2 at home by Wycombe Rye 4th in the same division, Sue Lukar and Lea Brough on the mark

OXFORD Hawks were beaten 2-0 at home by Aldershot & Farnham in the third round of the Women's HA Trophy.

Hawks created plenty of chances before Aldershot & Farnham went ahead with a strike from the top of the circle.

In the second half, Hannah Williamson, Fiona Walton and Kathryn Spencer all caused problems for the Aldershot defence, but the goal they deserved proved elusive, and Aldershot made sure with ten minutes remaining,

City of Oxford lost 2-1 at Stevenage in the Women's HA Vase, despite a goal from Mel Baker.
