Gloucester Utd 1, Abingdon Utd 0
Abingdon were the better side against top-of- the-table Gloucester for three-quarters of Saturday's league cup third-round tie.
However, two serious injuries in the second half disrupted the side as Wayne Harbert was taken off with damaged knee ligaments and Chris Hooper with a badly gashed leg.
It was all-Abingdon from the start as they mastered the windy conditions, while Gloucester were restricted to only a handful of shots.
After United's double injury blow, the home team pushed up and put them under pressure.
Just as the game looked like going into extra time, a hopeful cross stopped suddenly in the mud and Patton poked the ball over the line, leaving Abingdon no time to strike back.
