A skatepark project is attracting plenty of support -- but very little cash.
The proposed facility for Banbury is supported by local MP Tony Baldry, Cherwell District Council, Banbury Town Council, the police, and the Thames Valley Partnership.
But the Skateboard Syndicate is struggling to raise £20,000 needed to build the park in a warehouse in Warwick Road. Only the Thames Valley Partnership has given money -- a cheque for £1,000.
The organisers have raised £400 at skateboard and BMX demonstrations in Spiceball Park, but appeals to the councils and local companies have failed to generate cash.
John Washbourne, who heads the Skateboard Syndicate, said: "At the moment, the kids feel left out. We've got lots of goodwill but we need cash to get the thing off the ground."
