Residents living close to a former mill in Witney are angry about a company's development plans.
The West Oxfordshire District Council's lowlands planning sub-committee has given technology company TSS Limited permission to build a dome at their New Mill premises, on the banks of the river Windrush.
TSS makes marine instruments and the new building will be used to test and calibrate sensitive equipment.
Philip Hamm, who lives in New Mill Lane, said: "This is going to stick out like a sore thumb.
"The building will dominate the horizon."
The chairman of the council's lowlands planning sub-committee councillor, Steve Hayward, said: "The company need an isolated location because of the sensitivity of the equipment which is being calibrated."
