Railway Social Club A's Ollie Varney was in sensational form as he hit three maximums in his side's 7-2 victory over Cowley Community Centre C in the top-of-the-table Oxford & District Darts Association Premier Section clash.

Wins from Bob Pollard, Malcolm Elliott, Varney, Ronnie Anderson, Richard Parker and Andy Preedy gave them a 6-0 lead, before Cowley gained some consolation, winning the pairs 2-1.

The Hollybush Inn entertained Masons Arms C, and in a one-sided match, Hollybush ran out 9-0 winners - a victory that lifts them to the top of Section 1.

The Jack Russell kept up their challenge for Section 2 honours with a convincing win over Cricketers Arms A.

The Russell got off to a good start when wins from Barry Cadd (180), Mick O'Leary and John Jukes gave them a 3-0 lead.

Cricketers pulled one back when Bob Freemire (180) beat Keith Abrey, but the home side hit back to lead 5-1 after Laverack and Steve Gaisford both won. A 2-1 pairs win sealed a 7-2 victory.

The battle for the Section 4 title is hotting up, with joint leaders Cowley Community Centre A narrowly beating Blackbird Bar 5-4 and the other joint leaders Marston British Legion winning 5-4 at Vikings Social Club.

Ladies Premier Section leaders Blackbird Bar suffered a shock 6-3 defeat at Section 1 side Cherwell.

Blackbird opened the scoring when Angie Turner beat Norma Neal, but Cherwell then turned the formbook on its head with victories from Sharon Room, Sue Lovell, Lambert, Sylvia Middleton and Sue Morris giving them a 5-1 lead.

Despite losing the pairs 2-1, Cherwell sealed a 6-3 win.
